The pension fund regulatory body Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) on October 1st, 2020 launched the D-Remit or Direct Remittance facility using which investors in NPS can start systematic investment in this retirement avenue similar to mutual fund SIP. This new NPS facility makes investing in NPS not only simpler and hassle-free but also helps the subscriber get same-day NAV for their investment.

In addition, NPS subscribers can contribute on regular basis (daily/monthly/quarterly basis) just like a mutual fund systematic investment plan or SIP, directly from their bank account by using the recurring option of their banking platform.

Through this D-Remit facility, NPS investors can transfer funds directly - through NEFT/RTGS - from their bank accounts to their NPS accounts and get same-day NAV. By and large, the new D-Remit facility will enable all existing NPS subscribers under government, non-government, all citizens model to deposit their voluntary contributions by setting up a Virtual ID linked to their PRAN or Permanent Retirement Account Number.

For the remittance via D-Remit, a minimum limit of Rs500 is set for both Tiers I and Tier II accounts per transaction. Also, the virtual IDs are unique for Tier I and Tier II NPS.
