Can you share some of the key macro highlights of the Union Budget and were there some big macroeconomic announcements made?

Here are some of the major macro announcements made and many of them sound quite ambitious. Here is an overview.

· Government has reiterated its commitment to the National infra pipeline of Rs 106 lakh crore to bring India to East Asian standards in terms of infrastructure.

· National logistics policy will be released soon and that was long needed. Logistics policy will attempt to create single-window e-logistics market.

· Delhi-Mumbai Expressway likely to be completed by 2023. In addition, the budget has also promised to monetise 12 lots of highway bundles by 2024.

· Four railway station redevelopment projects will be undertake through the PPP mode. Budget has also promised to provide 20% equity, external assistance for metro projects.

· Budget has also made a commitment of Rs.22,000 crore for power, renewable energy in FY21. It will also expand national gas grid to 27,000 km from 16,200 km.

· Budget has also expressed its intent to enable private sector to build data-centre parks on the lines of STPs with the bet that data could be the new oil.
