The New Education Policy has tried some bold changes after a full 34 years.
· Schooling will start at the age of 3 years now with mandatory schooling for children from age 3 to 18.
· Mother tongue will be one of the mediums of instruction but no language will be imposed. This will continue till Grade 5.
· All education bodies like UGC, AICTE and NCTE consolidated into Higher Education Commission of India or HECI and will govern all public and private education.
· No rigid separations between arts and sciences and between vocational and academic streams. Vocational education will start from 6th grade and include internships.
· Undergraduate degree with multiple exit options. It will include certificate after 1 year, diploma after 2 years and Bachelor's degree after 3-years.
