Can you tell me about the restructuring at Aster DM Healthcare?

Aster DM Healthcare operates a global healthcare chain across the Middle East and India. It is now planning a corporate split of its two geographical arms in order to simplify the structure of the business. Currently, Aster DM, which is based out of Dubai, UAE, runs a total of 27 hospitals. The company hopes to unlock value through this simplification of the structure. It is already in touch with investment bankers and consultants.

Aster has expanded aggressively in India and plans to add hundreds of hospital beds in the South Asian nation. Nearly 50% of its hospitals are located in India while Dubai accounted for 25% of its hospitals. The India business was actually giving a discount to the GCC business, which would be rectified by this deal. It is exploring the options of either listing the Middle East arm in India as a separate unit or to take one of them fully private.
