How are the GST collections, have they become normal now?

While the numbers of GST are nowhere close to the Rs.1.41 trillion recorded a few months ago, the good news is that the COVID 2.0 effect seems to be waning. For August 2021, GST revenues came in at Rs.112,000 crore which is 30% higher on a yoy basis. In June this year, the GST collections dipped below Rs.1 trillion mark but it has recovered again in the last two months. August GST collections pertain to activity in July, so impact will wane further.

Gross GST collections were Rs.112,020 crore which included central GST of Rs.20,522 crore, State GST worth Rs,26,605 crore and Integrated GST (pertaining to inter-state movement of goods) worth Rs.56,247 crore. The balance came by way of cess collections. The numbers for August are slightly lower than July but if you look at the high frequency indicators like the e-way bill generation, the promise is still robust.
