If you look back at the previous week performance of the heavy weight stocks, then 7 out of top 10 most valuable Indian companies added Rs.137,397 crore in market cap. For the week, TCS emerged as the biggest gainer. On the losing side, Reliance continues to be under pressure even as Bajaj Finance also has been under a degree of pressure.

For the week ending on 08 January, the big gainers in value included TCS adding Rs.72,102 crore, Infosys which added Rs.21,894 crore, HDFC adding Rs.15,077 crore, Bharti Airtel adding Rs.13,721 crore, ICICI Bank enhancing market value by Rs.10,055 crore while HDFC Bank & HUL added Rs.4600 crore jointly. These were the major contributors to gains.

Now let me turn to the losers. Among the big losers for the week, Reliance Industries lost Rs.34,297 crore due to the ongoing insider trading case, which has clouded sentiments on the stock. The other major loser during the week was Bajaj Finance which saw value depletion to the tune of Rs.12,025 crore. Kotak Bank also depleted value by Rs.4662 crore.
