Sentiments were overall positive during the Diwali week with the Nifty gaining 1.28%. Sensex even added 770 points to close above the 60,000 mark, although the Nifty stayed below 18,000 levels. In fact, 8 out of the 10 most valuable companies on the Nifty based on the market cap added a total of Rs.1,18,930 crore in stock market value. Barring ICICI Bank and Reliance, all the other heavyweights gained heft during the week.

During the week ended 04-November, TCS added Rs.40,782 crore in market cap, SBI Rs.25,034 crore, Infosys added Rs.17,159 crore while HDFC Ltd added Rs.10,153 crore. Among other big weekly gainers, Bajaj Finance added Rs.7,503 crore, Hindustan Unilever padded up by another Rs.6,978 crore while even HDFC Bank added Rs.6,453 crore for the week. In contrast, weekly losers RIL lost Rs.24,612 crore and ICICI Bank Rs.13,680 crore.
