How did the heavyweights in the index perform in the previous trading week ended on 02 April?

If you look at the most valuable companies by market cap in the previous week ended 02 April, then 8 out of these 10 companies on the NSE added a total value of Rs.128,503 crore during the week. Once again, it was the IT majors like TCS and Infosys which led the rally, like in previous week. However, there was also optimism ahead of their quarterly results resulting in TCS adding Rs.36,158 crore and Infosys adding Rs.20,877 crore during the week.

Among other big value gainers were HUL which added market cap to the tune of Rs.19,843 crore, Reliance which added Rs.17,402 crore, SBI adding Rs.12,004 crore and ICICI Bank which also added Rs.10,682 crore. There were also smaller accretions from Bajaj Finance and Kotak Bank. HDFC Bank and HDFC jointly gave up value to the tune of Rs.3320 crore in a truncated week, but the impact was pretty marginal on the downside.
