Overall, the losess outdid the gainers in the week gone by and that can largely pinned on TCS and the technology pack. The results had disappointed the street and the impact was visible in the prices of these stocks. In fact, 6 out of the 10 most valuable companies on the NSE by market cap saw combined value erosion of Rs168,260 crore during the week gone by. The market valuation was largely dragged down by the sharp fall in TCS. Nifty ended the week 1.06% lower, while the mid-caps and small caps also showed losses.

Let us come back to the major gainers and losers in market cap during the week. The biggest value loser was TCS which Rs99,270 crore of market value getting depleted in just one week. TCS was followed by Infosys which saw value depletion to the tune of Rs35,134 crore. Other value losers included HDFC Bank to the tune of Rs18,172 crore, SBI losing Rs8,434 crore, HDFC giving up Rs4,092 crore and ICICI Bank Rs3,159 crore. There were gainers too. Hindustan Unilever gained Rs17,129 crore and Reliance gained Rs6,802 crore in market cap.
