How did the market heavyweights on the Nifty perform in the week ended 18 June?

Despite the carnage in many of the specific stocks during the week and the correction in metals, the heavyweights on the nifty gave a mixed performance during the week with the bias towards gains. In fact, 4 out of the 10 most valuable companies by market cap, managed to add Rs.68,459 crore in terms of market capitalization during the week. As the mood shifted in favour of defensives, Hindustan Unilever and Infosys were among stars.
During the week, Hindustan Unilever added value to the tune of Rs.26,832 crore while Infosys added to its market cap by Rs.24,629 crore. Other notable value enhancements included stocks like TCS Rs.9,359 and Reliance Industries Rs.7,639 crore. Financials came under pressure ahead of Fed policy fearing hawkishness. SBI lost Rs.14,949 crore, HDFC Rs.12,796 crore, Kotak Rs.6,909 crore, ICICI Rs.3,645 crore and HDFC Bank Rs.3,504 crore.
