The 10 most high value companies on the Nifty on the basis of market capitalization added an aggregate value of Rs.261,768 crore. This was the total accretion to market value last week with all the top 10 stocks in the positive territory and ending up with different level of gains. HDFC Bank and Reliance were among the two top gainers in a week when the indices gained over 3.3%. There was year end buying and short covering in the markets.
Among the top gainers on the Nifty, HDFC Bank added Rs.41,469 crore and Reliance added Rs.39,074 crore during the week. Among other key stock market gainers, Hindustan Unilever added Rs.29,687 crore, Bharti Airtel added market value of Rs.27,103 crore, HDFC Rs.26,852 crore, Bajaj Finance saw value accretion of Rs.26,672 crore, ICICI Bank also added Rs.25,975 crore. In addition, TCS saw value accretion of Rs.18,088 crore while SBI added Rs.15,931 crore.
