How did the Nifty heavyweights perform in the market in the last week ended on 27 August?

If you look at the most valuable Nifty companies in the previous week that ended on 27th August 2021 , you would find that 8 out of the top-10 Nifty stocks by market cap gained. In fact, the market cap accretion by these 8 stocks was to the tune of Rs.190,032 crore during the week. That was largely attributable to the two most highly valued stocks on the Nifty viz. Reliance Industries and TCS, which command a combined market cap of over Rs.27 crore.

If you were to look at specifics of the big gainers, then TCS gained Rs.60,184 crore while Reliance Industries gained Rs.51,064 crore. In addition, HDFC Bank gained Rs.19,651 crore and Bajaj Finance added Rs.18,518 crore to their market cap. Gains also came from Hindustan Unilever, ICICI Bank, Wipro and SBI. Two stocks that lost value in the week were Infosys and HDFC. Infosys saw market cap depleting by over Rs.10,000 crore.
