Gas Authority of India Ltd or GAIL reported a 6-fold increase in net profits at Rs.1,530 crore. However, the profits were lower on a sequential basis compared to the Mar-21 quarter. The increase in profits was due to improved margins in gas marketing and transmission as well as better price realisation in petrochemicals. Natural gas transmission volume were up 19% yoy while profits from gas transported through GAIL pipelines grew 27% Rs.915 crore.
