SBI reported 80% growth in net profits on a standalone basis for the Mar-21 quarter at Rs.6,451 crore. The trigger was sharply higher net interest income or NII in the quarter. For the full year FY21, the consolidated net profits were up 13.3% at Rs.22,405 crore. SBI has also declared a dividend of Rs.4 per share for the full year. The loan loss provisions and the net profits were much better than the Bloomberg estimates for the quarter.

NII was up 19% at Rs.27,067 crore in the Mar-21 quarter but the NII was lower on a sequential basis. The NIM improved from 2.94% in the Mar-20 quarter to 3.11% in the mar-21 quarter. Loan loss provisions were lower by 16.6% yoy at Rs.9,914 crore. Even the gross NPAs in the quarter were down you from 6.15% to 4.98% in the Mar-21 quarter. While the retail loan book expanded by 16.55 in Q4, corporate loan book shrank by 3%.
