Nestle is planning to take the battle for the lucrative Indian food market to the smallest denominator and go as rural as possible. Nestle currently has a leadership position in some of its key products that include, Nescafe, Munch chocolates and Maggi noodles. Now Nestle will be adding ready-to-eat poha and upma to take on local home-grown consumer goods companies and give a more Indian flavour to its product line.

Nestle has already launched these products earlier in December 2019 with packs starting at Rs.20. It remains to be seen if it is able to retain the flavour and freshness of home-made food. If it succeeds, it could be an interesting model for FMCG companies.
