Dividend payments to the government is normally about a handful of cash rich PSUs like IOCL, BPCL, Coal India and NTPC. For the current fiscal FY22, Indian Oil Corporation has paid Rs.2,424 crore as one dividend tranche to government. This is out of the total dividend of Rs.20,222 crore that government received from PSUs in the current fiscal.
Another oil major, BPCL, had paid a huge final dividend of Rs.6,665 crore to the government in the month of October. It may be recollected that BPCL is currently privatisation-bound.
