How much of redemption has Templeton completed so far on the six schemes that were shut down in last April 2020 due to illiquidity.

As per the latest update put out by Templeton, the sixth tranche of Rs.2,918 crore will be distributed to unitholders of the 6 shuttered schemes of Templeton MF on 01-Sep. Once this pay-out is completed, Templeton would have totally repaid Rs.23,999 crore or 95.18% of the assets under management of the 6 schemes as on April 2020, when they were shut.

However, this disbursement is just of the AUM as on 23 April and does not include any returns earned after that by the fund or the opportunity loss for customers. It may be recollected that the Supreme Court had appointed SBI MF as the official liquidator of these six funds of Templeton. SBI MF will transfer the funds to the investors and simultaneously also extinguish proportionate units of the scheme.
