According to estimates India could get investments up to Rs.15,000 crore for handset manufacturing in the next two years. This is due to the government's latest incentive policy as part of the Make in India campaign and the manufacture of handsets is likely to be a major thrust area. For example, Flex India operates three factories in India manufacturing smart phones for Xiaomi and Motorola as well as laptops for Lenovo. However, on the electronics front, India is likely to face a lot of completion from Vietnam and Philippines which have a robust electronics manufacturing base and have been known to have attracted many companies that have moved out of China.
