Initial Public Offerings (IPOs) have come a long way in India since the early days of fixed pricing. Over the last 2 decades, we have seen a number of major shifts in the IPO market like the introduction of book building, reduction in the number of days to the listing, ASBA, and the list can go on. But firstly, what exactly is an IPO?

An Initial Public Offer (IPO) is a flotation in which the company or the issuer raises money from the public. When a closely held company comes out with flotation for the first time to raise funds, it is referred to as an Initial Public Offer (IPO).

How to pick an IPO? Primarily focus is all that you need on management quality, management track record. Don't chase any concrete rule to find an answer to identify a good IPO. But I pretty sure that my mentioned points will help you at a good extent. I would suggest you take a look at IPO grading by brokers as a benchmark to take a decision on whether the IPO is good or not.

How to buy/invest IPO?- SEBI has now made available a facility called the ASBA (Applications Supported by Blocked Amounts). I recommended you to check ASBA as you do not have to issue a cheque or pay any money for the IPO till the allotment is made. The amount will be debited from your linked bank account only to the extent of the shares allotted.

I have read another similar question over IPO you can refer to this link:
