The IPO of Bectors Foods made a very strong listing opening on 24 December. The stock listed at a 73% premium to the issue price of Rs.288 at Rs.500. However, by the close of trading the stock had gained nearly 106% to close the day at at Rs.595. This makes it the third best listing day performance in 2020.

Earlier, Burger King and Happiest Minds had gained 130% and 123% respectively at close on the listing day. Post listing, as of the close of the first day of trading, Bectors Foods commands a market capitalization of Rs.3500 crore. Bectors, interestingly, is one of the largest B2B suppliers of baking products to Burger King and other QSR players.

You would perhaps recollect that Bectors IPO had been oversubscribed 198 times, making it the star performer in the year 2020. Retail investors got an allotment of just 1 lot of 50 shares due to the huge oversubscription in Bectors. All the 3 portions; Retail, HNI and QIB had been heavily oversubscribed with the HNI portion oversubscribed 620 times.
