The Rs.700 crore IPO of Supriya Lifesciences was subscribed 71.47 times overall at the close of the IPO on 20-December. That is a good response considering that it was a tepid day for the equity markets. Demand mainly came from the HNI segment followed by retail segment and QIB in that order. The company is into the manufacture of active pharma ingredients or APIs for the niche formulation in the pharma industry.

Out of the 145.28 lakh shares on offer in the IPO, Supriya Lifesciences received bids for 10,382.77 lakh shares implying an overall subscription of 71.47 times. Let us look at the break up of subscriptions and first focus on the QIB segment. After placing 1.15 crore shares with anchors on 15-Dec, the Supriya IPO had a residual quota of 79.25 lakh shares in the QIB portion. It got valid bids for 2,522.34 lakh shares implying 31.83 times subscription at close.

The pick of the lot was the HNI space. This segment got applications for 6,387.80 lakh shares against the available quota of 39.62 lakh shares. This translates into an oversubscription in the HNI/NII segment of 161.22 times. Finally, the retail segment was subscribed 55.76 times as it got bids for 1,472.88 lakh shares against the available quota of 26.42 lakh shares. However, the retail allocation in the IPO was just about 10%.
