How were the auto numbers of Maruti Suzuki for the month of April 2022?

The auto sales continued to remain under in pressure for the latest month of April also. Auto numbers for Maruti fell, although the intensity of the fall is waning. For Apr-22, Maruti wholesale numbers (sales by the manufacturers to the dealers directly) stood at 150,661 units. That is down by nearly 6% on a yoy basis.

Ironically, the sharpest fall in sales was seen in the mini-cars segment, which is the bread and butter of Maruti Suzuki. In mini-cars, the sales fell by as much as 32% on a yoy basis. Of course, the compact cars segment also saw 18% fall in sales in April 2022. The only redeeming features was exports growing 7% yoy at 18,413 units. Chips are the bottleneck.
