CDSL is currently India’s largest depository in terms of number of demat accounts and the second largest depository by custody value after NSDL. For the Dec-21 quarter, net profits were up 55% at Rs.83 crore while total income was up 58% at Rs.163 crore. Net margins are healthy at around 33%. CDSL had already crossed the 5 crore demat accounts mark few months back. The stock, owned by BSE, StanChart, HDFC Bank and LIC has been a star performer; appreciating nearly 3-fold in the last one year.
