DCB Bank reported marginally lower revenues for the Sep-20 quarter but operating profit showed growth of 21.83% at Rs.224.8 crore on a yoy basis. The improved operating profit was largely on the back of better cost management in the quarter.
Net profits fell by 9.98% at Rs.82.3 crore due to spurt in provisioning for doubtful debts and COVID losses. One reason for the profit fall was the tripling of provisions at Rs.43 crore. As a result, while OPM was up 330 bps at 23.15%, the NPM was down 85 bps at 8.47%.
Higher provisioning in the Sep-20 quarter resulted in net NPAs falling to 0.83% even as gross NPAs were higher at 2.27%. ROA at 0.86% is attractive by private sector banking standards.
