How were the GST collections in the month of October 2021?

In the month of October 2021, there has been a decisive bounce in GST collections with the total collections touching Rs1.30 trillion. This is 24% higher on a yoy basis and if you look back at the history of GST collections monthly, this is the second highest monthly collection ever since GST was introduced in July 2017.

Various State and Central tax departments had effectively leveraged on technology to track evaders and plug the gaps in GST collections. This filled up a lot of revenue slippages. The restrictions on non-compliant taxpayers from accessing other government facilities also resulted in sharply higher GST collections as it forced compliance on many assesses.
