For the month of Feb-22, India’s retail inflation or CPI inflation came in higher than projected at 6.07% while the wholesale inflation or WPI inflation was also sharply higher at 13.11%. The reason was the surge in crude prices and its downstream effect. WPI inflation has now been in double digits for 11 months in succession. Clothing, footwear and fuel drove up CPI inflation even as food inflation refused to relent in the month.
