How were the Paytm numbers for the FY22, third quarter ended December 2021?

Paytm, the online portal owned by One97 Communications, reported widening of net losses to Rs.778 crore in the Dec-21 quarter. It had reported a net loss of Rs.482 crore in the sequential Sep-21 quarter, so the widening has been substantial in this case. Paytm has lost over 50% from the issue price and has been one of the worst post listing stock performers.

However, the good news on the Paytm front is that the operating revenue were up 89% yoy at Rs.1,456 crore on the back of growth in merchant payments through MDR, new device subscriptions as well as fresh loan disbursements by the Paytm Finance unit. Paytm sits on cash of Rs.10,215 crore post the record Rs.18,300 crore IPO last year. Its gross merchandise value or GMV grew 123% on a yoy basis at Rs.250,000 crore in Q3.
