Indian paints major, Asian Paints, saw sales revenues grow by 18.66% in Q4FY22 quarter at Rs7,893 crore. FY22 full year revenues were higher by 34% on a yoy basis at Rs29,101 crore. In terms of the top line, growth was visible across the paints vertical as well as the home improvement vertical. Rural demand did take a dent on account of limited purchasing power. Net cash from operations in FY22 fell 75% on higher inventories and receivables.

Let me now turn to the profitability aspect of Asian Paints. For Q4FY22, net profits were flat as the higher sales were largely offset by a spike in operating costs. The debt on operating profits was am outcome of higher raw material and inventory costs. In addition, for the March 2022 quarter, Asian Paints also took an exceptional write-off to the tune of Rs.115.70 crore. This was on account of delay in subsidy by state government operations in Sri Lanka being written off due to strife. Net margins stood at 10.77% in Q4FY22 against 12.81%.
