How were the quarterly numbers of Bharti Airtel for the March 2022 quarter?

Bharti Airtel reported sharply higher net profits by 165% at Rs2,008 crore for the fourth quarter ended March 2022. Revenues for the period were 22.3% higher at Rs31,500 crore. During the quarter, the average revenues per user (ARPU) was higher by 22% yoy at Rs178, which was largely on the back of higher tariffs announced in Q3FY22. The top line traction was driven by the India business and the Africa business of Bharti Airtel.

However, it must be noted that the profit growth has to be taken with a pinch of sale. Strictly speaking, the profit numbers may not be comparable as the Q4FY22 profit also included exceptional one-time gains of Rs906 crore arising from the sale of telecom tower assets as well as a one-time strategic settlement with a vendor. For the quarter, Bharti Airtel OPM improved to 50.8% and Airtel added a total of 2.15 crore customers in FY22.
