Grasim Industries, the holding company of the Aditya Birla group, reported 25.7% higher revenues in Sep-21 quarter at Rs.22,564 crore. For the half year, the sales were up 30% at Rs.42,484 crore. For the quarter, Cement (Ultratech) grew 15.7% at Rs.12,017 crore, while viscose pulp & yarn was 79% up. In addition, chemicals (caustic soda) grew 44.5% while financial services grew 21.7%.

Net profits at Rs.1,359 crore for the quarter were 40.7% higher in the Sep-21 quarter. The profit boost was driven by a 6-fold growth in EBIT of Grasim’s core viscose pulp and viscose staple fibre business. Grasim also reported higher profits from caustic soda and financial services but cement profits were flat. In a nutshell, cement EBIT was flat and growth came from viscose and caustic soda.

Net margins stood at 6.02% in Sep-21 quarter against 5.38% in the year ago period.
