As per the Prevention of Money Laundering Second Amendment Rules, 2017, the government has mandated the need to link mutual funds portfolios to the Aadhar card of investors. Concerning this, it has mandated the Asset Management Companies and mutual fund houses to collect the details of the Aadhar Card of their investors so that large transactions could be flagged. There are three different ways with which you can link your Aadhar Card to your portfolio:

Through mutual fund house:

  • You can visit the website of your fund house and log in to your mutual fund account.
  • There would be an option under ‘investor services’ or ‘services’ to link your Aadhar card.
  • Provide details and enter the OTP received on your registered mobile number.

Through SMS:

This facility is provided only by Karvy. So, you have to send an SMS from your number registered with Karvy. To send an SMS, you should type the following message: ADRLNK
You should send this message to 9212993399. Once your message is sent, you will get an acknowledgment text from Karvy. On completion of linking, you will receive a confirmation message.

Offline mode:

You should take out the Aadhar linking form from your fund house and fill in the relevant details. Along with the form you should submit a self-attested copy of the Aadhar Card for verification purposes. After the linking is successful, you will get a confirmation message. These forms could be downloaded from the registrar’s website or will be available at the office of fund houses or registrar.
