Investors are often advised to open a d-mat account and for that, they require few documents, but if you do not have the right documents in place, all this process can be a big headache as the brokers could bother you by asking them turn-by-turn. So, here’s the list of documents you will need to keep handy before asking a broker to open a D-mat account for you.

Proof of Identity (POI): Voter’s ID, driving license, PAN Card, Aadhaar Card, Unique Identification Number, etc. are generally accepted.

Proof of Address (POA): Passport, Voter’s ID, Aadhaar, Ration Card, etc, registered sale or lease agreement of the house, maintenance bill, insurance paper, electricity or telephone bills (not older than 3 months).

Proof of Income: ITR-V Acknowledgement receipt or copy of ITR form filed can be furnished, proof of salary under form-16 (recent), a Net worth certificate issued by the Chartered Accountant or a photocopy of the annual accounts duly audited by a qualified Chartered Accountant, current bank account statement reflecting the income history of the client for the past six months at least.

Proof of Bank account: Cancelled cheque leaf or first page of the passbook can be furnished for this purpose.
Passport size Photographs.
