By definition, all trading is risky and all investing is also risk. The only difference here is time. When you invest you have a longer time for the market to play your way whereas in intraday trading you have a window of just about 5 hours for the trade to play out. That is why intraday trading is risky because the positions have just a 5-hour window to close out. Unlike an investor, time works against the intraday trader because the room for error for an intraday trader is quite small, especially considering that capital needs to be protected. That is why things like stop losses, profit targets, risk reward ratio etc become so much more critical as far as intraday trading is concerned.
