Based on a forensic audit report by Grant Thornton, the administrator for DHFL moved the NCLT against the promoters for irregularities in loans worth Rs.12,706 crore given to slum rehabilitation projects.
The administrator, Mr. Subramaniakumar, has moved this second complaint to the NCLT. Earlier, he had also charged the Wadhawan brothers in connection with fraudulently charging lower interest rate to certain preferred entities.
The monetary impact of the above transactions or the likely loss due to the transaction is estimated at Rs.12,706 crore. This includes Rs.10,980 crore of principal amount and Rs.1726 crore of accrued interest. There is already a detailed forensic audit under PMLA that is underway.
