Rhizen Pharma, the Switzerland based associate company of Alembic Pharma, received approval from the USFDA to commence phase one clinical trials on retroviral oral drug to use in the treatment of COVID-19.
Rhizen is an extremely specialized bio-pharma company based out of Switzerland. The first phase of the study will evaluate single ascending doses of the RP7214 in healthy volunteers. RP7214 is a selective DHODH inhibitor showing potent inhibition of COVID-19 viral replication.
The company has stated that RP7214 has high oral bioavailability, robust antiviral potency and broad anti-inflammatory role.
