It now looks the resurgence of COVID could be the biggest risk to an economic recovery. We have the first signals coming in as a number of leading global brokerages have gone ahead and downgraded India's GDP growth projections for FY22. The reason is the likely impact of clampdowns on growth in the coming FY22.

For example, Nomura downgraded GDP growth for FY22 to 12.6% from 13.5% earlier. JP Morgan and UBS also downgraded the GDP to just about 10% growth in FY22. RBI has continued to maintain its growth forecast for FY22 at 10.5%. Most analysts and economists expect that continued lockdowns could hit the GDP growth by 3-4% in the current year.
