Is it true that GAIL is also diversifying into Hydrogen business?

That is absolutely correct. GAIL is also getting more into the renewable energy space, like most of its counterparts in the hydrocarbon space. For example, GAIL will now foray into hydrogen generation and it is most likely to adopt the inorganic route to increase its renewable energy footprint in India in a substantial way. GAIL wants to be part of the story that contributes to reducing the carbon footprint and improving the energy mix.

GAIL wants to clearly ensure that its future expansion plans are totally in sync with the major shift that is happening in the hydrocarbons segment globally. Even companies like IOCL and Reliance are already in that fray. GAIL is looking to expand its Renewable Energy portfolio from the existing capacity of 130 GW via inorganic route. To add to renewable mix of its portfolio, GAIL is foraying into ethanol as well as into hydrogen generation.
