This is the finding based on a recent analysis by S&P. As per the report, for the perioding ending Jun-21, 86% of large cap funds, 57% small & mid cap funds and 54% ELSS funds did worse than the benchmark indices. Even over 5-year period, 83% large cap funds, 76% mid-cap funds and 70% ELSS funds underperformed indices. Underperformance was worse in the case of Bond Funds. That surely makes a strong case for passive ETF/Index investing.
