As per recent data put out by the Bombay Stock Exchange, the exchange has added around 1 crore registered investor accounts in just 107 days bet June 06th this year and September 21. This takes the total registered investor accounts with the BSE to over 8 crore accounts. This includes the accounts for registered for equity related transactions and mutual funds. Of course, these are the accounts that transact through BSE.
Just in the last 12 month time frame, BSE has added 2 crore registered investor accounts. The growth in investor accounts has synchronized with the rapid opening of demat accounts and the tremendous rise in SIPs of mutual funds. In fact, BSE first touched the 1 crore investor account mark only in the year 2008. Till 2018, it was adding 1 crore accounts every 3.5 years. However, between Aug-18 and Sep-21, investor accounts have more than doubled from about 4 crore investor accounts to over 8 crore investor accounts.
