Is Mr. Ashish Chauhan taking over as the chief of NSE?

Let me put it this way. As of now, the SEBI has cleared the name of Ashish Chauhan for the post of MD and CEO of NSE. Ashish is already a well known figure in exchange circles and is known as the man who led the charge of BSE in the last 10 years. The former MD and CEO of NSE, Vikram Limaye has already demitted office on Saturday. In fact, Limaye was eligible for another 5-year extension but had decided against opting for it.

Ashish Chauhan can take officially take charge after NSE shareholders accord their approval. Ashish, who led BSE for 10 years after the exit of Madhu Kannan, is an alumnus of IIT and IIM. NSE may be like a homecoming for Ashish Chauhan who has worked with the NSE between 1993 and 2000. In fact, Ashish Chauhan was one of the driving forces behind the setting up of the derivatives exchange business on NSE. However, on the algo front, there would be a lot of legacy issues that Ashish may have to address in coming days.
