Is Vodafone still losing customers to Jio and Bharti Airtel, or has it stopped?

The TRAI has just released the July 2021 data and as per the data, Vodafone Idea continues to lose customers to Jio and Bharti Airtel, although the pace has now reduced. For the month of Jul-21, Jio and Airtel added 65 lakhs users and 19 lakh users, respectively. However, during the same month, Vodafone Idea lost 14 lakh subscribers. This is still a net loss but the pace appears to have substantially reduced in the recent months.

The total wireless subscribers base in India in July 2021 grew by 0.51%. However, what must be noted is that the growth essentially came from Urban India, with rural India growth fairly marginal. As of end-July, the total telephone subscriber base stood at 121 crore on a pan-India basis. The good news for Vodafone idea is that the telecom relief package announced by the government should allow them to raise capital and stem the fall further.
