Effective from Monday, 20th December, Wipro will come back into the Sensex after a long break, replacing Bajaj Auto. This is part of the semi-annual rebalancing of BSE Sensex. This will result in some inflows and outflows from ETFs and other passive funds. It is estimated that this shift will result in total inflows of $154 million into Wipro while it will entail outflows of $69 million from Bajaj Auto.
This is not the only shift on the BSE indices as there are changes to the other BSE indices too. For example, in one more readjustment, Bank of Baroda will replace City Union Bank in the BSE Bankex. There will be a series of changes in the BSE 100 index. The 4 changes will be Adani Transmission, Adani Total Gas, SRF and Max Financial coming into the index in place of Biocon, PFC, Torrent Pharma, and REC respectively in the BSE 100.
