In its order on 26th November, the Supreme Court ordered that the floor test of the Devendra Fadnavis government must be taken before 5 pm on Wednesday 27th November. There are a number of procedures to be followed before that. Firstly, the pro tem speaker will have to be appointed and the pro tem speaker will administer the oath to all the elected representatives of the various parties. Once all the MLAs have take the oath of office, then only the floor test can be conducted.

The total number of seats in Maharashtra assembly is 288 so for any party or any combination of parties to prove their majority, they must have a minimum of 145 votes in their favour. While the BJP is claiming 170 letters of support, the opposition combination of Shiv Sena, NCP and Congress are claiming the support of 162 MLAs. As of now it is not clear what could be the outcome of the vote and the final result will be known only after the actual floor test is done. But, as per the Supreme Court order, the vote will have to be completed before 5 pm on 27 November, which means that all the MLAs will have to be administered their oath much before that.
