Reliance Industries reported net profits of Rs.12,273 crore for the Jun-21 quarter. The profit was lower by 7% yoy but that was more due to the exceptional gain of Rs.4,966 crore that RIL had booked in the Jun-20 quarter. Revenues for the Jun-21 quarter were up 58.6% at Rs.142,000 crore. The boost to the top line and the bottom line came largely from the O2C business as well as the fast growing digital business of RIL.

At an operating level, the EBITDA was up 27.6% at Rs.27,550 crore with some pressure seen due to COVID 2.0. However, it also reported a sharp growth in exports for the quarter. The big top line contribution came from O2C which saw revenues increase 75% to Rs.103,000 crore. Jio revenues were up 10% at Rs.23,403 crore. The digital business saw ARPUs in the telecom business at Rs.138.40 per subscriber per month.

Reliance Industries finally showed a sharp ramp-up of gas production from the KG-D6 basin with RIL producing 18 million standard cubic metres of gas a day. On the telecom front, Reliance reported data traffic of 20.3 billion GB in the quarter, a yoy growth of 38.5%. Overall, the retail business was the second highest contributor of revenues while digital was the second highest contributor of EBITDA in the quarter.
