Here are some of the major cues for the coming week to keep an eye on.
· The big news is the COVID variant B.1.1.529 and a lot will depend on defence measures by various countries. On Friday, the price of oil and equity indices cracked sharply, so expect a lag effect. Oil prices will be the big focus this week after the 13% crash.
· Last week, the story was all about the Paytm weak listing. The recent week has been volatile as Paytm recovered 40% from lower levels. The interest levels in digital IPOs and digital stories will largely depend on performance of Paytm this week.
· It will be an interesting week for IPOs. The Rs.7,250 crore Star Health Insurance IPO opens on 30-Nov and the Rs.619 crore Tega Industries IPO opens on 01-Dec. In addition, 30-Nov will also see the listing of Go Fashions which had seen 135x subscription.
· FIIs sold Rs.21,000 crore during the week and Rs.31,000 crore in month of Nov-21. Major point to watch is travel and movement bans. Europe is looking at stringent travel and human influx restrictions and that could worsen FPI flows in coming weeks.
· Among big macro announcements, the GDP numbers for Sep-21 quarter will be announced on 30-Nov along with core sector and auto sales numbers. Auto sales could see sustained pressure on chip supply constraints, while core sector and PMI will be key high frequency indicators for the markets.
· There are some major data flows from the US market including Pending home sales, Powell testimony, vehicle sales, jobless claims, non-farm payrolls and Markit PMI. For ROW key data points, the list of announcements this week include EU PMI, Consumer Confidence, Inflation Flash, PPI; Japan retail sales, IIP, Housing starts; China PMI.
