What has triggered Bharti Airtel to a new all-time high?

On 10 August, Bharti Airtel touched an all-time record level of Rs.628, despite the results seeing traction only in the Africa business and ARPUs still being below the required levels. Previously, Bharti Airtel had scaled its all-time high of Rs.623 in Feb-21, earlier this year. Bharti stock has appreciated 20% in 3 weeks at a time when the broad-based Nifty is up just about 5%. Bharti has been facing a tough challenge in the market from Reliance Jio.

Interestingly, the stock of Bharti has gone up despite the Supreme Court dismissing the application to re-compute AGR dues payable to DOT. However, the markets expect Bharti to substantially benefit from the launch of its upgraded prepaid plans and post-paid plans. Bharti has weeded out customers at the entry level and that promises higher ARPUs. Bharti showed healthy 4G adds and free cash flow generation during the quarter.
