On 04th January, Tuesday, the Delhi High Court will rule on Future Group’s petition against Amazon. The petition was filed pleading to quash arbitration proceedings against the Future group. This arose after Future Coupons had moved the Delhi Court asking for termination of arbitration proceedings. These are currently underway at the Singapore International Arbitration Centre or SAIC.
This comes in the light of the order by the Competition Commission of India or CCI which suspended its approval of Amazon’s deal with Future Coupons. CCI also imposed a fine of Rs.200 crore on Amazon for misrepresenting by making false and incorrect statements while seeking approval for the deal. However, it is not clear whether a merger can be cancelled in retrospect due to technical factors.
