What is the huge controversy that the Zomato Instant plan is created in the market and in social media circles?

The Zomato Instant plan, the idea of delivering food in 10-15 minutes is a good piece of innovation. It is early to say if it is practical but it is going to give the company a lot of discussion value. Even though the plan sounds ambitious, it is a step in the right direction. Incidentally, in the early part of the week when Zomato chief, Deepinder Goyal tweeted about Zomato Instant plans, it had become the butt of jokes, criticism, memes and trolls.

But the idea of taking quick delivery to food is not a bad idea after all. For instance, Zomato will use the grocery delivery model of Blinkit to create the equivalent of Swiggy Instamart. Just that, Zomato with do it with food with a cloud kitchen and an algo based clustering logistics model. The criticism is that it would cause traffic hazards, but that appears to be stretching imagination too far and being too fatalistic about a good idea.

Most of the concerns and objections on social media were frivolous and pointless. Not attempt to cut time to delivery makes the process less safe? When share transfer time was cut down from 21 days to 2 days, or when IPO allotments shifted from 90 days to 7 days, markets became safer. There is no evidence to prove that this will lead to competitive delivery models risking lives. In reality, delivery boys don’t even realize at the front end.
