In the last few days, Reliance New Energy has already stitched 4 clean energy deals with global and domestic partners to enhance its green energy franchise. It began with a $771 million investment in REC Solar Holdings A/S of Norway to leverage its abilities in panels and polysilicon. For the delivery of PV panels, Reliance will depend on Germany’s NexWafe, which has the requisite technology and expertise to deliver PV panels.

For installing these panels, RIL will leverage its recent purchase of 40% in Sterling and Wilson Solar from the Shapoorji Pallonji group. Then there is the issue of storage where it will leverage its partnership with Ambri Inc in the solar value chain. Of course, in between, Reliance will also look to leverage its deal with Stiesdal of Denmark for its business of green hydrogen as a major step towards green and clean energy.

Its latest acquisition is a stake in NexWafe of Germany and this is what will help Reliance compete with the Chinese manufacturers in terms of scale and costs. NexWafe will help Reliance to get lower Photovoltaic (PV) manufacturing cost once it is implemented on a very large scale. In addition, this association will also help them to lower hydrogen product cost and eventually improve green ammonia economics in a substantial manner.
