Tata Consumer Products (formerly known as Tata Global Beverages) reported 10.9% higher sales revenues at Rs3,363 crore for the September 2022 quarter on consolidated basis. In terms of its top line business mix, the India business showed a growth of 9.2% at Rs2,160 crore while the global business grew 7.4% at Rs839 crore, so the growth was evenly spread across geographies. In constant currency terms, the revenue growth was 10% yoy. India packaged beverages business grew by 7%, India coffee business by 39% while the India foods business grew 29%. Tata Sampann portfolio grew in double digits in the quarter.

Let us not turn to the profit performance of Tata Consumer Products Ltd. PAT was up 22.4% at Rs328 crore on a consolidated basis while it was higher by 28.38% on sequential basis. It was a tale of diverse performance in the India and global portfolio. Operating profits of the India business grew positively while the operating profits of the international business halved on account of global headwinds like inflation and recession fears, which had caused supply chain constraints. It must be noted that the profits got a leg-up from exceptional gains of Rs110 crore in Q2FY23 arising from the sale of land. Net margins at 9.75% in Q2FY23 were higher compared to 8.84% in Q2FY22 and 7.68% in Q2FY23.
